Nested-PCR description

A variation of conventional PCR that includes two successive rounds of amplification with different pairs of primers, in order to increase specificity and sensitivity. First, a reaction is carried out with a set of external primers to amplify a larger DNA region containing the target segment. Then, with this amplification product, a second PCR is run with a set of internal primers to amplify only the specific target segment.
